Lowest Scoring Victory Highlights Quiet Weekend
It was a quiet weekend in the NLL, with just three games as most of the league had the first weekend of the New Year off.
That was enough to make some history though, as San Diego scored six goals but managed to secure a victory in a 6-5 win over the Ottawa Black Bears. It was the lowest scoring effort by a winning side in NLL history.
It actually tied for the lowest total in a game. On January 11th, 2001, the Toronto Rock beat the Albany Attack 7-4. No game in league history has ever seen less than 11 goals scored.
For the record, the highest total in league history was 49, after the Montreal Express beat the Calgary Roughnecks 32 – 17 (49 goals total).
In the NLL, you never know what will happen.
San Diego Seals 6 – Ottawa Black Bears 5
As mentioned in the intro, the game was a historically significant one for the right reasons if you are a San Diego fan. A loss there would have dropped the Seals below .500.
Instead, San Diego is back in the playoffs in the middle of the standings.
Wes Berg and Rob Hellyer had a game high 3 points each, while no Black Bears player scored more than a single point.
Stat of the Game: Goaltenders Zach Higgins and Chris Origlieri stopped 77 of 88 shots for a combined 87.5% save percentage. Amazingly, that would actually be below the league leader Matt Vinc, who is saving the ball more than 88% of the time.

Rochester Knighthawks 16 – Georgia Swarm 9
As mentioned, anything can happen in the NLL. The Knighthawks went into Gas South Arena and beat the previously unbeaten Swarm.
Ryan Lanchbury (3 goals, 6 assists) and Connor Fields (2 goals, 6 assists) led the way for the Knighthawks, who won for the first time since an opening night victory over the Vegas Desert Dogs.
Andrew Kew had 2 goals and 3 assists to lead the Swarm, who sit alone in second place at 4-1.
Stat of the Game: Mike Sisselberger won 20 of his 29 faceoffs in his NLL debut. That filled a strong need for the Knighthawks. Even with the performance on the weekend, the team is still facing off at 38% on the season.

Vegas Desert Dogs 12 – Albany Firewolves 11
The story of the night in Albany was the Tucker Out Lymphoma night in Albany as the Desert Dogs secured the first victory of the Tucker Out Lymphoma cup. Vegas coach Shawn Williams coached against his son Dyson for the first time.
The Desert Dogs secured their first victory of the 2025 season with an overtime victory over the Albany Firewolves. Rookie Jackson Webster led the scoring for Vegas in his NLL debut with 3 goals and 3 assists, while fellow rookie Adam Poitras scored 3 goals including the game winner in Overtime.
Alex Simmons led the scoring for the Firewolves with 2 goals and 5 assists, while Williams (3 goals) and Ethan Walker (2 goals) had 5 points each.
Stat of the Game: Albany is now 1-4 on the season but improbably has a +4 goal differential. They have lost three games in OT.
Attendance: 3,861
